Simon Munnery is probably best known for his comic creations Alan Parker the Urban Warrior and The League Against Tedium. I was expecting something more madcap or character based. At first it was difficult to work out whether this was Munnery's latest character creation or the man himself. This was a more conversational narrative humour, part performance, part 'an evening with...'. Munnery can be very funny but he can also be baffling in a Spike Milligan kind of way; Milligan was widely regarded as a comedy genius, and as with Munnery I am willing to concede that at times I just don't get it. Munnery remains both a disarming and unsettling performer. Simon
Munnery is appearing at The Stand Comedy Club Edinburgh from
31 July.
