How

Although billed a piece of theatre, this is in fact a stand-up routine done entirely in character by John Moynes. A softly spoken young Irishman tells how he is going to give his full life story and proceeds to explain why this will be possible in the allocated time. His life on this earth far from being uneventful, and despite him seeming a grown man, has only been about two years. He then takes us on an excursion through his life as a comic strip character and how he crossed over into our world. It is a gentle pisstake on everything from small town Ireland to grannies' reading habits at pubic libraries through to students finding amusement at repeating catchphrases ad nauseum. There is some graphic violence described but the overall effect is still one of it being safe and unthreatening. I enjoyed it as a clever idea that was unusual in format, but this gentle almost whimsical humour though very well done, doesn't really hit the mark for me. 1 August to 25
August.
