There is no morbid fascination whatsoever in this family oriented production. On the contrary, this is a very clean humoured play, purely a bit of fun. A vicar is killed! Who dunnit? Why did he die? We are taken on comical journey by a couple of old jokers to try and determine, Agatha Christie style, who the murderer could possibly be! The production is curious mix of humour and drama, and the drama frankly contrasts badly to the comedy. The audience interaction is excellent, creating a lot of fun and amusement in the process. However, a gimmicky ask-the-audience whodunnit scene, using police charge sheets, really doesn't work. The intimacy of the performance does lead you to warm to our entertainers, especially when they are (moustachioed) playing their female characters. There is not a lot going on here but light entertainment, and there's nothing wrong with that, and it really is reasonably enjoyable, certainly at the start, even if the acting is not great. If you are looking for simplicity in humour which is clean (no God / swearing / grizzly / sex jokes), with it being a beautiful chapel at St Cuts to boot, this is a reasonable choice. 1
