CW editorial note - 12 June 2009
Theatre and drinksTheatre and drinks
This week on CW, a bumper crop of London theatre reviews. Giulia Merlo enjoys a gory Thyestes at the Arcola, while Miriam Gillinson is less impressed by I am Montana at the same theatre. Matt Trueman is perplexed by Unlimited Theatre’s The Moon, The Moon, and amused by a carefree Much Ado About Nothing in Regent’s Park. Elsewhere on the stage, Federica Ancona is inspired by Wayne McGregor’s cerebrally visceral Entity at Sadler’s Wells, and Timandra Harkness reviews a grim Peter Grimes and a flighty Madam Butterfly at the ENO.
And in the theatre bar, Dolan Cummings explores Britain’s allegedly toxic relationship with alcohol, and argues that a ‘drinking culture’ is in fact a good thing.
