Preparing for Battle

The outline programme for this year’s Battle of Ideas is now online. The festival, organised by the Institute of Ideas, takes place at at the Royal College of Art in London on the weekend of Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November. In the coming months, CW will publish reviews and essays exploring many of the themes to be discussed, from the Battle for Energy and the Battle for Reproductive Choice to the Battle for the Economy and the Battle for Work, and much more besides.

On CW this week, Miriam Gillinson reviews Ella Hickson’s state-of-the-nation monologues Eight, and the Amnesty-backed site specific Container at the Young Vic, while Sophie Carmichael reviews Amanda Smyth’s novel Black Rock.
