Still preparing for Battle
Still preparing for Battle
The outline programme for this year’s Battle of Ideas is now online. The festival, organised by the Institute of Ideas, takes place at at the Royal College of Art in London on the weekend of Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November. In the coming months, CW will publish reviews and essays exploring many of the themes to be discussed, from the Battle for Energy and the Battle for Reproductive Choice to the Battle for the Economy and the Battle for Work, and much more besides.
On CW this week, Sean Bell reports from July’s Brighton Salon on Mind, Brain and Self in the Age of Facebook, considering the increasingly wobbly line between public and private. And Jo Caird finds herself unable to dissent from the critical consensus on West End musical Too Close to the Sun: it stinks.
