Politics and the real world

Politics and the real world

This week on CW, we launch a UK election blog in a bid to inject some political substance into what otherwise threatens to be an uninspiring campaign largely irrelevant to the real problems society faces. Dolan Cummings opens the blog in the spirit of the Institute of Ideas’ 21 Pledges for Progress, and invites readers to look beyond the unworldly agenda set by the parties themselves. In the weeks between now and the election, a variety of contributors will comment on different aspects of the campaign and the British political situation more broadly.

Also this week, Matt Trueman reflects on ageing in a review of Kontakthof at the Barbican in London, Chris Sims admires Emily Mackie’s novel And This Is True, and Dan Schneider discusses the Symbolism of Theo Angelopoulos’ 1975 film The Travelling Players.
